These pictures were sent to me by Bill Shambarger. He was in the original convoy from Nouasseur to Site # 3. Bill was in the 117th AC/W Sqdn back in Tennessee. I believe that Bill stayed at Site # 3 for his complete tour in Morocco.
Thanks for the pictures.

New Home
The latest style living quarters on the desert. This is where we sacked out until we could get some squad tents up. Not a lot of conviences, but at least we were off the sand.
New Runway?
I am not sure, but this looks like a view of the runway we leveled so they could fly some fresh food and mail to us. This is looking toward the South. Must be November or December (1952) because the tower was already up.
The Great Desert Retreat
These were the first style living quarters we had after the shelter halves. They are 12 man Squad tents over wooden frames that we built. These were still in use when I rotated back to Nouasseur in preparation to go to Site # 5 at Mechra bel Ksiri.
Water?
After a rain? We saw very little of this. It was gone very quickly out there. Our water was trucked in from an artisian well at Berguent (35 miles to the North of us.) It was a full time job for two people to keep us supplied. We were rationed to 3 gallons per day. Good thing was we could use it any way we wished. Shower--Shave--Drink--whatever!!
The New Radar Tower
The unit that I was assigned to operated a mobile unit mounted on a 6x6 truck until the tower and permanent Radar could get built and in operation. We were then ready to go to the next Site to be built.
Snow? I love the desert! You never know what will be next. I never saw this. I only heard of it happening one time. This must have been it. My info said that it didn't last but minutes before it melted away for good. I also think that this occured in 1953.
Sewart AFB, Smyrna, Tennessee. This was home prior to embarking to Fr. Morocco. I do not know the date this picture was made.
